Jaxen & Cecilia
Mention the word bachata or zouk in Malaysia and their names are the first to
appear on everyone's lips. Despite being Malaysia's 2005 Salsa Champion, Jaxen
has carved his journey into becoming Malaysia's most recognized bachata and zouk instructor; having been invited to teach and perform in festivals in Malaysia and also in other countries such as Australia and Indonesia. Jaxen has been teaching salsa in Malaysia for about 4 years and has been dancing since 2002. In 2006, he formed Rhythm Identity.
Jaxen & Cecilia has been partners for about 2 years and together they have been
the revolutionary pioneers behind the growth and advancement of the bachata and
zouk scene in Malaysia. They have travelled around the world and have learnt
from some of the most recognized names in the dance industry. They brought into
Malaysia the Bachata Moderna style; a more advanced yet simplistic style of
bachata which focuses a lot on footwork variations with crosses of the feet as well
as modernizing traditional moves to give it more flavour and style yet still
maintaining the sensuality and cheekiness of bachata.
The two of them have also helped grow zouk in Malaysia, turning it from an
unheard of dance into a name which is now mentioned by nearly everyone in the
dance scene. The two of them have been featured on Malaysian national TV as
well as in Malaysia's premier dance magazine Just Dance for their passion and
effort in the promotion of zouk.
Harry & Evelyn
Both of these talented dancers are from the latin ballroom background, once unheard of in the salsa dance scene but they exploded into it by being crowned as the Malaysian Bachata Champion 2010 in the KLDA Rising Star Salsa & Bachata
Championship.
Evelyn is one of Rhythm Identity's instructor specializing
mainly in bachata. Other then her recent championship victory, she also took home the 1st runner-up position in the 2009 Singapore's En La Passion Bachata Competition. Despite being one of Malaysia's hottest new bachata dance sensation, Evelyn is also a qualified Bollywood dance instructor. Her dance
knowledge expands over to latin, ballroom, modern dance, hip hop, line dance and of course salsa and zouk.
Harry was once a latin ballroom instructor but had found a new passion in the street/social latin dances instead. He went to learn salsa, bachata and zouk and it was his talent, passion and hardwork tat helped him earn his current dance title. He is now a trainee instructor for Rhythm Identity and is actively pursuing his advancement in bachata.
